Oral Pathology Laboratory Services

 Our oral pathology laboratory provides histopathologic (microscopic) diagnosis of biopsied lesions and tumors of the mouth, jaws and maxillofacial region. We provide complimentary kits for biopsy specimens and our doctors are happy to provide guidelines and suggestions for the biopsy procedures. Dr. Belknap, Dr. Montague, and Dr. DeVilliers will call to discuss any unusual or malignant diagnoses, and they are available to answer questions and help guide treatment decisions on all diagnoses. Our laboratory services include:

  • Histopathologic diagnosis of oral lesions
  • Direct immunofluorescence (DIF) for autoimmune disorders
  • Immunohistochemical and special staining (when needed for diagnosis)
  • Evaluation of cytologic smears for fungal or viral infections
  • Electronic reporting via secure email 

 

Important Information Regarding Billing

Dynamic Pathology is an out of network oral pathology laboratory with all health insurance plans. We will bill your patients and file courtesy claims to their health insurance plans, if insurance information is provided. If you would like us to bill your office or a third party, please let us know. We have opted out of Medicare effective April 1, 2023. Patients with Medicare, Medigap or Medicare Advantage plans will need to sign the Medicare Opt Out Contract, indicating that they understand we will not file claims with Medicare and they will be responsible for the cost of our laboratory services. If they have separate dental insurance, we will file a courtesy claim with their dental plan. Please see our forms for our complete billing policy and contact us with any questions.

 

Expert Consultation Services

Dynamic Pathology offers expert oral pathology consultation and second opinions regarding:

  • Oral pathology cases from other institutions
  • Oral pathology consultations from general pathologists
  • Clinical photographs and radiographs

How to send consult materials:

  • Please call our office at 941-720-9747 to arrange mailing (USPS, FedEx or UPS) for oral pathology cases (including glass slides or tissue blocks)
  • Pathology reports may be emailed or faxed to (866) 710-4133 and we will process the request for slides to be reviewed
  • Clinical photographs and radiographs may be emailed to biopsy@dynamicpathology.com.  

 

Clinical Oral Pathology Services

We currently do not evaluate or treat clinical patients at Dynamic Pathology. Our oral pathologists Dr. DeVilliers and Dr. Belknap see patients at their outside clinical practice offices in the Tampa Bay and Orlando areas. Virtual consultation visits are also available when needed. We are happy to facilitate referrals for clinical oral pathology patients to these offices or to other local providers.
